Golfers Face B.C. Today in Initial Northern Contest

With the greens and fairways of the Dedham Country and Polo Club still swampy from the flood waters of the Charles River, the golf team is forced to invade the enemy territory of the Commonwealth Country Club in challenging Boston College today. The match is scheduled for 3:00 o'clock, rain or shine.

Although these links are not yet in very good shape, the squad has been practicing on them for several days, trying to gain a little familiarity with a course that Boston College knows inside out. "Fairly easy, but quite hilly," is how Sam Savidge, captain of the team, described it last night.

Probable Starters

Probable starting golfers will be Bill Rickenbacker in the number one spot, followed by Ozzie Keiver, Savidge, Line Kinnicutt, and Jack Denton. Rickenbacker is the best player on the links now, and is expected to be getting in the low 70's before the season is up.

Keiver, captain of last year's Jayvee football eleven, is far and away the longest hitter, and should prove a valuable asset on windy days.

These two, Savidge and Kinnicutt, are the four returning members of last season's Varsity squad, and most of the responsibility lies squarely on their shoulders for the success or failure of this afternoon's match and the nine other contests scheduled this season.

Today's match will provide the season's first northern competition for the Crimson, which lost three straight is Dixie during the Easter vacation. It is B.C.'s opener.
