150 at Radcliffe Back 'Save The Peace' Plan for Rally

With five Houses yet to be completely canvassed, the "Save the Peace" Committee reported last night that nearly 400 students, including 150 at Radcliffe, have signed pledges of support for its platform and peace rally. Meanwhile, a telegram to the Rev. Harry F. Ward, professor emeritus of the Union Theological Seminary and former chairman of the Civil Liberties Union, elicited his promise to attend and address Friday's meeting.

Of the Radcliffe signatures, which numbered almost one-sixth of the Annex enrollment, the Committee welcomed especially the names of 50 girls who offered their services for Peace Week activity, which opens today. The total list included such figures as Betty Fitzgerald '48, Susanne Ehrenthell '48, Susanne Watson '49, Alice Brandels Gilbert '49, Paula Rudy '49, and Suzanne Carter '48.

Stress Today's Meeting

In an executive statement hailing this early recruiting and planning for the rally, Mendy Weisgal 2G, Emmanuel Margelis 1G, and William D. Brown '46 called it "urgent that all individuals and groups who support our minimum program help plan 'Save the Peace Week' at the meeting in Phillips Brooks House this afternoon at 4 o'clock."

Tentative plans for the parade through the Yard preceding the Friday demonstration include a baby carriage procession by College wives, a Zionist contingent protesting UM reconsideration of partition (on Friday's agenda), and placard-bearers from other groups.
