Puritan Pugilists Fight Their Way To House Crown

Blockhouse gloves were put away for a few days last night, as the inter-House boxing tournament ended in victory for Winthrop.

The Puritans had clinched first place even before the start of last night's bouts by qualifying eight men in the finals during matches earlier this week. Adams notched the runner-up spot.

Besides Arthur Horning, Howie Schless, Henry Smith, and Joseph Vera of Winthrop, other victors in the finals are Russell Bath of Adams, Austie Lyne of Eliot, Tom Rodgers of Adams, and Milt Rutstein of Dudley.

"Greatest interest Since War"

Coach Henry Lamar declared that the tournament aroused the "greatest upsurge of undergraduate interest in boxing, since the war," and predicted even more excitement in the bout for all-University championships next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Forty-four men, several of whom boxed in the House matches, will vie for top honors in the tournament which includes the top boxers in all graduate schools.
