House Men Petition for Plan

Dunster and Adams chipped in 216 signatures Thursday and yesterday to a pro-UMT petition as student sponsors of the drive made plans to hit the rest of the Houses and the Yard early next week. The ten-man group was organized spontaneously last Wednesday in Dunster, and is not affiliated with any other organization.

Campaigning under the slogan, "Don't Be an Ostrich, Get Your Head out of the Sand," the group picked up 147 names in Dunster Thursday evening, returning after a fracas Wednesday with members of the Wallace committee who were offering an anti-UMT scroll.

Dean Watson's office gave them official permission yesterday to continue their campaign backing UMT, and last night Abbot M. Geer '47 and Stuart P. Green '48, one of the organizers of the group, collected 114 signatures from a total Adams House membership of 356.

The petitions will be sent to Senator Chandler Gurney, head of the Armed Forces Committee of Congress, as soon as the survey of the remaining Houses is completed.
