Three Appointments Announced by Provost

Richard D. Ellmann, along with John Ciardi, will become Briggs-Copeland assistant professor of English and Jarvis Kingston will be an assistant professor of Military Science and Tactics for Air, Provost Buck announced yesterday.

Both young poets, Ciardi and Ellman will divide their time between creative writing and teaching of undergraduate students in composition. Ciardi's appointment to the rank of assistant professor was announced last week.

Kingston, who holds major's rank, served 45 months in the Navy's anti-submarine campaign in the Caribbean during the war.

Tonight, Hanson will give the second lecture in the series on the subject of "The Materials in Music." The lecture will take place at Paine Hall at 3:15 o'clock.
