Massachusetts scientists honored Edwin J. Cohn '17, professor of Biological Chemistry at the Medical School, citing him for his "outstanding work" in the physical chemistry of proteins at a meeting Thursday.
Professor Cohn will receive the 1948 Theodore William Richards medal on May 13.
During the war, Professor Cohn separated blood plasma fractions, an achievement of great value in treating wartime combat shock, measles, and liver inflammation, the scientists declared.
