Although Harvard and Yale basketball disappeared into the EIL quicksand weeks age, both teams have more than a traditional interest in tonight's season finale at New Haven.

By salvaging this one, the Crimson can climb into a three-way tie for the Big Three title. Otherwise Yale winds up first, Princeton second and the Varsity last.

Since the Elis rolled through the Crimson 80 to 51 at the Arena last Saturday, they have been established as heavy favorites to repeat tonight. As an added incentive, their big man, Tony Lavelli, will be gunning for 24 points or so in order to nail second place in the national individual scoring parade.

His average (20.9 points a game) is now 1-10th of a point under that of Iowa's Murray Wier, who has completed the season. Tonight is Lavelli's last chance to move into the runner-up slot.

To stop him, Coach Barclay will again use defensive handyman Chip Gannon, who helped keep the Eli high-scorer down to 11 points last Saturday. Squad members and Coaches Barclay and Harper viewed movies of the Yale game for a full hour yesterday at the Blockhouse, following a brink defensive workout upstairs.

Although Yale's set artist, Peacock, seems to have shifted into high gear, getting 20 points against Trinity Wednesday night, the Varsity high command feels the Elis' can't possibly equal last Saturday's one-out-of-two shot percentage.
