Eliot Clinches Three Titles As Winter Sport Scene Ends

Three more Eliot House teams wound up on top of Straus trophy competition yesterday to lengthen the Mastodon lead as the winter intramural schedules swung into their last week of action.

Unbeaten in hockey, and with their full-strength "A" and "B" teams in squash boasting perfect records, the Elephants are more than satisfied to call it quits con ice and courts 'til next year.

In basketball, Winthrop and Dunster will fight it out tonight in an attempt to decide the House champions. A win for the Puritans will give them undisputed first place, whereas a Funster triumph would tie the records.

Wrestling will also share tonight's spotlight, when the House finals are held at the Blockhouse starting at 7 o'clock. Both semi-finals and finals will be held in the heavyweight class in addition to the six other championship matches.

Yesterday's hockey tilt between Winthrop and the Yardlings ended in a 2 to 2 draw. Dudley faces the Yard sextet, and the Puritans encounter Adams today to wind up all ice conflicts for the season.

Squash teams defended their Houses for the last time yesterday. Winthrop spilled Adams by a decisive 5 to 0 count in the "A" league, as Eliot handed Leverett crushing 5 to 0 defeats in both the "A" and "B" games.

Swimmers also took their last plunges on Wednesday when Lowell established itself as the top House team. Close all the way, the meets wound up with a three-way tie for second place.

Only other scheduled inter-House contests still to be conducted this season are in fencing and volley ball. Finals in foils, saber, and epee will be held next week on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday respectively, and the volley ball state Hats 28 contests to be played between March 16 and 24.
