Thomas W. Lamont '92, Chairman of the board of J. P. Morgan and Company and widely known philanthropist died just before midnight last night at his home in Boca Grande, Florida a member of the Morgan firm announced early today.
The 77 year old graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy and Harvard College died peacefully in his sleep. He suffered a heart aliment. Present with Lamont were his wife and two of their children, cordless Lamont '24 and Mrs. C. C. Cunningham.
Dr. Austin Lamont and Thomas S. Lamont '21, the other sons, had left Florida only day or two ago.
Last year Lamont, former Overseer of Harvard, gave the College one and a half million dollars for a undergraduate library. He was a former president of the CRIMSON and some of his last published words appeared in the Anniversary issue of Friday, January 30.
