College Debaters Bow Before Cornell Team

Repudiating the Truman Doctrine, and pointing out the success of the United Nations in dealing with the Iranian problem as contrasted with the failure of United States' activities in Greece, Cornell won a unanimous decision over the Debate Council last night in the Winthrop Common Room.

The winners, arguing the affirmative of the topic, "Resolved, That the United States should cease unilateral action in foreign affairs," suggested that this country submit all major action in foreign relations to a majority approval of the United Nations assembly. Only after this had been done, Big Red speakers assected, should the U.S. take action, Cornell debaters were Alvin Arnold and Martin Hummel.

Eli Kaminsky '47 and Richard K. Firth '48 represented the Crimson.
