"My God, what are you doing with a two iron," the ski instructor said to the novice. "I'm playing for the roll," the novice said.

The instructor's jaw dropped several inches until it met his chest, "Why, why, why?" he intended. "Never play for the roll. How many times must I tell you?"

"Three, so far."

"Look. Don't try to over-reach yourself. You've got to start slow and keep your head down at all times."

"Get it," the novice said. He departed in a whirl of snow. At the botton of the slope he encountered a low-hanging branch and became entangled with it. "Good Lord," the instructor said when caught up, "I told you that you had the wrong club."
