Council to Probe Representation of Minority Groups

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

First plans for a thoroughgoing survey of minority group status in the College came yesterday from the inaugural meeting of the Student Council Committee on Minority Problems.

Ten committeemen will analyze the College's policy on admission and employment of minorities; study past and present fair educational practises bills; and form a publicity and speakers' bureau

Laying the groundwork for future investigations will be the first task of these groups, Chairman Ernest M. Howell '47 explained last night.

The committee would not discuss, nor would it comment on testimony offered Tuesday by vice-President Reynolds in opposition to a resolution in the State House asking for an investigation of discriminatory practises in educational institutions.

Howell pointed out, however, that his group would not make extra work for office personnel, the grounds for Reynolds' objection to Resolution 1602, but would rely rather on questioning procedures.
