Dave Gilbert and Pat McCormick grabbed the two doubtful positions on the varsity mile relay foursome yesterday after tryouts on Soldiers Field. These two winners will run in company with Captain Dave Hamblett and Harvey Thayer when the Crimson Cluder specialist meet Rhode Island State at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
McCormick, Gilbert, and Chuck Harwood ran a close race for the positions.
Jim Downey, Dick Welsh, Jee Rosen, and George Williams will share the varsity two-mile relay in the Rhode Island meet.
Freshman mile relay team members are Tom Crockett, John Packard, Dave McGrath, and Ed Grutzner. The two-mile relay squad consists of Ron Berman, Thayer Scudder, Dave Cairns, and Tom Rogers.
