Sextet Aims for First Victory Against MIT

The varsity hockey team takes the Arenas ice for the second time at 7:30 p.m. tonight, and stands a better than even chance of collecting the first Crimson win of the season. This time the opponent will not be the squad seeded first in New England (Boston University) but the engineers of MIT.

Both sides had previously opened their seasons Wednesday at the St. Botolph rink, and in the preliminary, Tech lost of Boston College, 13-5.

Coach John Chase announced two lineup changes for tonight's contest: first, Johnny Chase (no relation) will start at goal, and second, Doug Anderson will play left wing on the third line.

The coach emphasized that his selection of Chase in the nets has little to do with his performance Wednesday, but explained that the intended to alternate Bill Yetman, Chase, and sophomore Phil Clark until one has earned himself a starting assignment. Yetman started against BU.

14-Man Limit Enforced

Barring injuries, only 14 men, or the legal limit established in college hockey, will play against the Engineers. On Wednesday, by agreement of both sides, the limit was abandoned, and the respective coaches were able to look over several more men under game conditions.

Chase was considerably gladdened by his team's showing against BU., an all-veteran outfit which lost but one man from its excellent last year's team. "When we meet them again, we shouldn't be so much of an underdog," said the Crimson hockey mentor.

As for the MIT contest, Chase admitted, "We ought to beat them." In their first outing, the Engineers showed occasional blurts of speed, but little team coordination, and less conditioning. Most of their scores against BC came after they were hopelessly behind, and against the Eagle scrubs.
