Vets Can't Deduct Vacation Periods From Subsistence Time, VA Decrees

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

There is no chance for veterans with waning subsistence time to conserve it by having vacation periods taken out of their regular monthly checks, the Veterans Administration here announced this week.

The information came as a result of several requests to Boston VA authorities that they deduct subsistence time for the Christmas holiday from the December checks.

In restating the rules, the VA emphasized that subsistence is paid without interruption throughout the period of enrollment in the university, which is usually a full, two-term year.

"Interruptions of training may not be recognized between quarters or semesters which are included in the veteran's period of certified enrollment, nor for holidays occurring within terms or semesters," the VA's bulletin said.
