Sextet Meets BU Tonight

Harvard's strongest hockey squad since before the war opens the winter sports season tonight in the Boston Arena, but will find itself the underdog against a powerful BU team.

When the two squads face off at 9 p.m., it will be a case of the "fastest, deepest" Crimson sextet in years, according to Coach John Chase, versus last year's New England League leaders who have lost only one man to graduation. It will be a case of a well-packed Harvard team at nearly full strength versus a Terrier squad that lists three erack goalies as well as aggressive play-making forwards and a core of big, experienced defensemen.

Coach Chase who at this time last year had little cause for optimism when several of his key men were lost because of illness or probation, finds a completely reversed situation this season.

With two potent newcomers flanking veteran Captain Dave key on the first line, the Crimson should have one of its strongest offenses in years. At right wing is Bill Garrity, one-time all-scholastic whose ineligibility last season was a big blow. Performing at left wing will be big Jack Carman, last year's freshman standout and a Jayvee football tackle this fall. Car man has only had time for five ice workouts, but is ready to go.

Coulter Back at Defense

In a move to bolster the back line, Chase this week shifted forward Charlie Coulter back to his natural position where he will team with the veteran Dick Greeley. Bill Yetman will probably open as goalie in the post vacated by retiring captain Jack Lavalle, but Johnny Chase is a safe bet to see a good deal of net minding action and so may sophomore goalie Phil Clark.

Behind the first team is a strong set of reserves, headed by last year's sophomore line of Tom Moseley, Myles Huntington, and Dave Abbot and defensemen Bill Allen and Al Key, the brother of Dave. AAU Olympic defenseman Lew Preston will be a big boon to the defense when he comes off probation in February.
