To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

Hell's bells--or, if you will,--Cambridge bells's are hardly a subject for favorable comment alone. I was particularly surprised to note that the article entitled "It Tolls For Thee" was written by my roommate, Arthur Solmssen, who has asked me to keep my alarm clock in the living room because the ticking annoys him. I was certain that Arthur would prefer telling time by the sun to listening to a campanological free-for-all 96 times a day.

Cambridge might have one of the highest clapper rates in the country, but I hear no beauty when the ponderous tongues of these iron town-criers bellow contradictions to each other across the city. And when three bells disagree regularly as to the time, presumably the majority of them is wrong.

At any rate, many of us will dance at the wake when our beloved bells tell their won death-knell. Mource Freedman '50
