8 Takeaways From Harvard’s Task Force Reports
A detailed account of seventy-four years of Harvard football, including the highlights of every game and the lineups of each Yale contest, is the subject of "The History of Football at Harvard," a new book by Morris A. Beale. The volume also contains a foreword by Hamilton Fish '10, and an introduction by John Kieran.
The chapter on Harvard coaches, from Lucius Littauer in 1881 to Arthur Valpey in '48, is contributed by Harry Von Kersburg, star Crimson guard of 1905-06, line coach under Percy Houghton, and for thirty years a football official. Von Kersburg also includes commentary on many Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Dartmouth, and Brown teams.
It is dedicated to the late Percy Haughton and the 1908 team, on the 40th anniversary of Houghton's taking over coaching duties at Cambridge.
Beale's is the first volume ever to give a complete picture of Harvard football from 1874 to 1948, from Cushing '77, to Peabody '41.
