Debaters Beaten By Middlebury on Labor Party Rule

Middlebury College speakers defeated a Harvard team in a debate held last night in the Lowell house common Room. Subject of the discussion, sponsored by the Debate Council, was "British Labor Government, Pro and Con."

The Middlebury debaters cited the advantages of the Labor Party regime, claiming its economic advantages overbalanced any inefficiency, while the Harvard group, composed of Howard G. Godfrcy '50 and W. Robert Kratz '50, opposed the present British government.

Judging the debate were Samuel H. Beer, associate professor of Government; Gayton E. Germane, teaching fellow in Economics, and E. Raymond Corey, instructor at the Business School.

The debaters had previously lost two arguments against Yale.
