Three College "Wallace For President" organizations, including Undergraduate For Wallace, Graduates For Wallace, and Law Students For Wallace, joined forces last Sunday.
The three groups are now joined to form a united and permanent University-wide organization, to be known as the Young Progressives of Harvard. The group expects to get its charter from the University on Wednesday.
Gerald Gordon 1L has been appointed temporary chairman of the Young Progressives.
In outlining the purpose of his organization, Gordon stated, "Never before has the need for a strong progressive movement been felt so clearly throughout the country. As responsible students we shall join that movement, and shall fight on all fronts to protect our democracy and at the same time to extend it and make it grow."
Gordon spoke of the recent attack made on HYD member George Stocking, and declared: "We shall begin that fight by mobilizing University-wide protests against the fascist-like beating of George Stocking."
