Dean Cronkhite, now celebrating her twenty-fifth year with Radcliffe, will be honored next Thursday at a reception in Agassiz given by the Annex Board of Trustees.
Ada Comstock Notestein, Radcliffe President emeritus, will speak at the reception, and a full-length portrait of Dean Cronkhite will be presented to the College, William Abbott Cheever was the artist.
Appointed in 1934 as first dean of the Graduate School, Dean Cronkhite previously served 11 years as dean of the College. She is a Radcliffe representative on the Administrative Board of the Harvard Graduate School and of the Administrative Board handling the joint degree of Master of Arts in Teaching.
A member of the class of 1916, she also received her doctor's degree from Radcliffe. Graduate study included a year studying international law at Yale University and a year at the University of Brussels as a fellow of the Commission for Relief in Belgium.
Dean Cronkhite has initiated such projects as the Appian Way social center in an effort to unite graduate students.
