Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
Five of Harvard's fastest talkers did their best to inveigle dates from six unseen "models" on WHRV last night.
The program, a Signature-WHRV affair, matched the lines of students against the resistance of six Intercollegiate Fashion Show models. Results favored the men, with Hilary Smart '47 copping a date with Jean Ford of Emmanuel College, and Michael Graham '52 winning an evening with Sargent freshman Mary Ann Patterson.
"Indian Love Call"
Billed as a "Blind Date" program, the show opened with "Indian Love Call" and featured completely unrehearsed lines as the boys tried to get dates with the girls. One man got all the breaks. Peg Wishard '52 competed successfully against Joanne Irving '52, Radcliffe, for a date with William Raney '50.
Observers named Raney's line the best of the evening. "What are you hunting?" Miss Wishard asked. "I just hunt," Raney said.
Curtain Across Studio
To keep date appeal on a verbal basis, the two groups were separated by a curtain strung across the studio. Albert Feldman '50, Mark Carroll '50, and Signature's Irene Tinker '49 moderated the action.
Afterwards boys escorted the girls home--early. But next week things will be different. Winners will get a free evening with dinner and tickets to "Harvey" by compliments of Signature Magazine.
The girls were part of a group of 70 local co-eds who will parade the latest fashions before a Cambridge audience at Rindge Tech today. Over 200 girls competed in a Hub-wide contest.
Radcliffe, Wellesley, Emerson, B.U., and Lasell were among the colleges represented.
