Truman Stop Here Likely; Beer Lauds His Liberalism

President Truman will "in all probability" make a stop at Harvard during his New England swing near the end of the month, Edward F. Burke '50, vice-president of Students for Truman, said last night at a meeting of the club in the Union Upper Common Room.

"No stone will be left unturned," Burke declared, "in our efforts to bring Harry here for a 'home stretch' rally."

Professor Samuel H. Beer, featured speaker of the evening, announced his "full" support of the Chief Executive. He termed him a "genuine liberal in the fullest sense of the word" and excoriated the "individualists" in Democratic ranks who had weakened the Truman band.

"If the Mechanical Man in elected," Beer added, "it won't be the fault of Truman." Nodding to Young Republicans present he conceded that "the Republic won't come to an end if the Mechanical Man wins."
