Students Will Dramatize Social Problems on WHDH

A series of radio programs, designed to acquaint Boston listeners with civic and national problems, is now taking shape under the guidance of several University students and Faculty members.

According to Jerome Rappaport '47, student chairman of the group, the 15 programs will be aired ever station, WHDH in Boston starting early next month. Each will last 30 minutes.

"Old techniques like forums and lectures," Rappaport says, "have failed to stimulate people to positive action on social problems." The series will therefore be presented in documentary form.

Faculty Works with Students

Here's how it will be done: each program will be prepared by an individual working group, consisting of students plus at least one faculty adviser whose speciality is that particular field. A dramatic presentation of the problem at hand will be broadcast one week, followed by a round table discussion of the problem by qualified exports the next. Planned so far are programs on city planning, education, housing, juvenile delinquency, and the Fair Employment Practices Commission.

In this connection, Rappaport issued a call for writers, researchers, and others interested in the work. The group, unnamed as yet, will hold a meeting for all interested Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in Harvard 3.
