Joe Rosen, top Freshman cross-country man last year, proved himself the fastest runner in Friday's cross-country University handicap. Rosen loped over the 3.7 miles along the Charles in 21:14.
Following close on Rosen's heels in Jaakko Mikkola's annual classic was Dave Gregory, a promising Freshman this year. Gregory paced off the course in 21:18.4. Mikkola, explaining that this was good time for a Freshman, added that it was far too early to name this season's best runners.
"Don't forget," he said, "that the upperclassmen had only two days' practice before Saturday's race."
