Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
The Harvard wrestling team launched a full scale drive yesterday to achieve recognition as a major sport.
With a goal of 2,000 student signatures, the entire squad will circulate petitions at the Houses today in the first leg of a campaign that will run through the weekend. The wrestlers are asking "major" status as the result of their '48-48 attendance figures, which equalled those of basketball and were second only to football.
Another of the reasons for the drive members this fall, spokesmen said. Is the large number of potential squad The wrestlers also are asking the return of the Jayvee team cut out last spring in an economy measure, since the large squad will need regular competition.
Undergraduate Group Approves
The proposal has already received the nod of the Undergraduate Athletic Committee, which advises the Committee on the Regulation of Athletic Sports at Harvard--the body which will have the final say on the wrestlers' status.
