Two Congressmen Analyse Election Situation Tonight

Congressman John F. Kennedy '40 and former Congressman Thomas H. Eliot '28 will discuss the national and state elections at an open meeting of the Liberal Union tonight in Harvard 1 at 8:30 p.m.

The two will split assignments, with Kennedy talking on the national campaigns and Eliot dissecting the state picture, including the referenda dealing with labor union regulation.

Both Eliot and Kennedy have represented Cambridge in Congress. The former served one term, from 1940 to 1942, before losing to Mayor Curley of Boston, while Kennedy returned from four years in the Navy to win election in 1946.

Professor Merle Fainsed, chairman of the Government department, will introduce both speakers. Roy F. Gootenberg '49 will chair the forum, which will be followed by a membership meeting of the HLU to debate support of Dever and O'Brien.
