Sixty-nine young women emerged smiling yesterday from the last lap of the Signature-Bonwit-Teller fashion contest, with Wellesley out in front with 23 finalists.
Next stop for the winners is the show itself, to be held at Rindge Tech auditorium November 12.
Simmons will send 12 girls, Boston University 17, Radcliffe 9, Emmanuel 5, Tufts 4, Sargent 2, Leslie 2, and Regis 1, to model the Bonwit-Teller creations next month.
The Radcliffe nine are Connie Well '50, Anne Worthington '52, Helen Clark '51, Anne Drachman '52, Joanne Irving '52, Carol Jones '49, Mary Frances Blakesles '52, Joan Smith '52, and Rachel Mellinger '52.
Contestants have been allotted to each school on the basis of enrollments. Difficulties of fitting are expected to eliminate about ten of the girls.
The show, which has been under the chairmanship of Mary Morris '49 and Irene Tinker '49, will give two performances for the benefit of the Free University of Berlin.
