With ten members already signed up, the Dixiecrats have applied to the Faculty Committee on Undergraduate Activities for recognition as a temporary student political organization. If the group can generate sufficient interest, it plans to continue after election day and apply for permanent status.
Charles P. Dribben '51, of Missouri, is leading the fourth-party movement and has set up a temporary office in his room in Little 41. The Dixiecrats hope to hold a rally for States-Rights Democratic Presidential candidate Governor J. Strom Thurmond.
