Alan W. Brown '30, assistant to the Dean of Columbia College, Columbia University, was named president of the Colleges of Seneca-Hobart and William Smith by the board of trustees Monday.

Brown, who takes office at the end of the school year as seventeenth president of Hobart and sixth president of William Smith, studied in Paris, Athens, and Munich before taking his master's degree in English here in 1932.
