When the Oxford debating team faces the Crimson at Sanders Theatre this Sunday for the first time in 20 years, it will beast two men closely associated with Oxford literary and political activities.
David K. Harris and the Honorable Anthony N. W. Benn, Member of Parliament, will take the affirmative for the Oxonians on the topic "Resolved. That the social and economic advantages to be gained from nationalization of basic industries would be overwhelming." The third member of the Oxford team, Sir Edward C. G. Boyle, Baronet, is opposed to the motion and will not participate in Sunday's debate.
Both men saw considerable war service. Harris, on his return to Oxford, helped to refund the University magazine, Isis, and served as drama critic and literary editor.
Benn is on the executive committee of the Oxford University Socialist Club and is president of the Union Society. A member of the Labor Party for five years, he was elected to Parliament last year.
