Coach Moe Berg's freshman quintet shoots for its most crucial victory of the mid-winter season today when it meets a high-scoring Holy Cross five in the Boston Garden at 4:30 o'clock.
The Cross annually boards the toughest freshman teams in New England. Its '50 quintet cancelled part of its season last year and was boosted to varsity status where it succeeded in copping the NCAA championship. According to Berg, Cross' '51 generation is not slouching in its predecessors' shoes.
Berg's major worry is the possible loss of pivot Pat McCornick due to illness. If McCormick can't play, Berg intends to start Tom Lombard, second high-scorer against Milton last week with ten points in only eight minutes of play. Ed Smith will alternate with Lombard from his left forward position.
