When the Freshman physical training program starts today, swimming will be the favorite sport, according to figures released yesterday by Norman W. Fradd, assistant director of Physical Training.
With a choice of nine possible ways to get an athletic credit, 340 students picked swimming. Bunched together in second, third and fourth spots are crew with 178, tennis with 163, and football with 124.
The Schedule:
Conditioning classes at indoor Athletic Building 11:15, 12:15, 5:00, Coaches Fradd, Harper, Cox and Parker; Crow at Nowell Boat House from 2:00 to 5:00, Coaches Bolles, Haines, and Love; Cross Country at Dillon Field House, 1:00 to 5:30, Coach Mikkoia.
Fencing at Indoor Athletic Building from 2:00 to 5:00, Coach Peroy; Football at Soldiers Field from 3:00 to 5:00, Coaches Harlow, Lamar, Boston, Kopp, Margarita, and Jacunski; Soccer Business School Field 3:00 to 5:00. Coaches MacDonald and Guyda.
Swimming at Indoor Athletic Building (Advanced and beginners) 11:00, 11:45, 2:00, 2:30 with additional advanced classes at 12:30 and 2:30, Coaches Ulen, Brooks, and Kelly. Tennis at Soldiers Field Courts 11:00 to 5:00, Coaches Barnaby and Wynn. Touch football at Soldiers Field 3:00 to 5:00, Coaches Samborski; Track and Field at Soldiers 2:00 to 5:00, Coaches Mikkola and Flannigan.
