Slichter Appointed to Counsel Senators on Social Security Plans

Sumner H. Slichter, Lamont University Professor, will act as associate chairman of the new 17-man advisory council to study proposals for expanding social security benefits, Eugene D. Millikin (R. Colo.), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, announced yesterday.

Slichter and a group of business, welfare, and other leaders will work under the leadership of Edward R. Stettinius, former Secretary of State, to devise ways of extending social security beyond the 42 million persons now covered, and to make recommendations for other changes.
