Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
After a 52 to 0 football victory, it is hard to be pessimistic. In the Dillon Field House after Saturday's game, however, Dick Harlow did his best.
"There will be some changes made," said Harlow, although in winning his team scored eight touchdowns, any one of which normally would have figured prominently in the opening game memories of present Cambridge undergraduates.
While reserving comment on such changes until after seeing movies of the game, the coach gave individual praise to backs Vince Moravec, Chip Gannon, and Jim Kenary, and in the line to Chuck Glyna and Bob Kennedy. He rated Moravec "a tremendously improved football player" and Gannon "a runner who doesn't know how to let up."
Team Play Ragged
Harlow termed the play of the team as a whole ragged "In spurts and stops." After several quick touchdown, the Crimson attack was effectively stalled until the last 16 minutes of the game, when Western Maryland tired badly, yielding 8 of 14 first downs and four more touchdowns. He also thought the team's covering on kick-offs was weak and would require a lot of work this week.
The strength of the line still remains a question. It is hard to evaluate a team as a whole against opposition that lacks depth and ability, but in this particular case it is harder still to rate the line, since the visitors lacked their two first string guards and used their center only sparingly because of suspected injury.
Tremendous Power
The Crimson, nevertheless, showed tremendous power and coordination for the opening game and also relative to other Crimson elevens of the years just past. Harlow has a backfield to work with for a change. Gannon and Moravec averaged 10-yard gains every time they ran with the ball, and Kenary proved himself a tricky runner as well as an accomplished passer.
Perhaps the most significant chapter of the football weekend for home fans was written while they were celebrating victory. Saturday night Harlow and company watched Boston University rise from the unheralded ranks of college football to assume a position as strong contender in the stadium five days hence.
