Both the open singles and the open doubles sections of the University Summer Tennis Tournament moved toward completion of their second rounds yesterday as approximately half the matches in each class were played off.
Six men advanced to the quarter-finals of the singles tourney. B. A. Cameron downed Bob Ruskin 6-2, 6-2, Dick May-field defeated David Young, 6-1, 6-2; Ted Boericke defeated R. T. Dolloff, 6-1, 6-2; T. Nygaard downed D. Gifford, 6-0, 6-1; L. D. Baskin defeated W. L. Kraus, 6-2, 6-2; and R. VonBlon advanced through a bye.
In the open doubles T. Zinsser and Cohodas downed Dolloff and R. David, 6-0, 6-2; J. Anderson and Bob Ashley beat Keevil and VonBlon, 6-0, 6-4; Wendell and Zinsser defeated A. A. Bothner and J. Nelson, 6-0, 6-0; and Hanley and Deland topped Hall and Stearns, 6-1, 6-2.
In the only second-round doubles match, Wendell and Zinsser edged out Anderson and Ashley in a see-saw match, 6-4, 12-10.
