Former chief geologist of the European division of the New Jersey Standard Oil Company, Winthrop P. Haynes '10 has been appointed visiting lecturer in Geology for the next academic year, it was announced yesterday.
Haynes, who returned from Europe in 1936 to serve as general consultant for the company's foreign operations, will give courses in his specialty of petroleum geology.
Prior to the First World War he served as an instructor in Geology here and at Radcliffe and Wellesley Colleges, and later held an associate professorship in the subject at the University of Kansas.
