Man Who Managed Clients for High-End Cambridge Brothel Network Pleads Guilty
Dark streets and alleys were becoming only a memory yesterday for Harvard men accustomed to the enveloping darkness of the square and adjacent through-fares.
Ordered to improve lighting conditions by the city of Cambridge, the Cambridge Light and Gas Company is now completing installation of 164 new streetlights. Bigger and better is the word on the new globes.
Mounted on modern fixtures fully 10 to 12 feet higher than the old style lamps, the new lights are guaranteed to shine directly downards. Where there is the possibility that rays might shine into rooms, the lights have been shielded.
Officials of the company claimed that the lights would give twice the candle power of the old globes. They estimated that the lights would give out 15,000 lumens using from 800 to 900 watts.
The local installations are part of a city wide project in which over 500 lights will be replaced. Begun last month, the installation job is expected to be completed by early fall.
