Although no flying sancers will be exhibited, amateur stargazers will get a look at most other celestial objects at Harvard Observatory's first Open Night of the summer term Monday evening.
A lecture by Lawrence B. Adler, of Indiana University, on "What Makes Stars Shine?" will begin the program at 8 o'clock. If weather permits, guests will then be able to look at the heavens through telescopes.
Rain or shine, photographic plates from the largest astronomical collection in the world, illnminated slides, and several books written by local faculty will be on display.
Originally planned as solely a Harvard night, the program has been thrown open to other surrounding colleges, including M.I.T., Radcliffe, and Simmons. Ticket reservations may be obtained by telephoning the observatory today, tomorrow, or Monday.
