Robinson Hall to Be Clearing-House For Veterans' Book Authorizations

The wheels of administration are already turning in the matter of veterans' book authorizations, John U. Monro '34, newly-appointed Counsellor for Veterans, announced yesterday.

Registering Freshmen may go directly to Robinson Hall, where lists of authorized texts are on hand, to submit their applications for authorizations. July 12 is the last day books for the term may be purchased under the G.I. bill.

Monro also stated that students should have their original certificates of eligibility, or lacking that, their discharge papers with them at registration, where the first desk they pass will be that of the Veterans Office.

A further announcement from Weld Hall is that the tuition bill included in the registration envelope may be disregarded for the time being. The first subsistence check for the summer is not due to arrive until August 1, and all expenses will be retroactive from that time.

Business Decreases

With September's registration, the vast volume of business in the Veterans Office will begin to diminish. By fall, Monro, who officially succeeds Dean-elect Wilbur J. Bender on July 1, will be the sole remaining counsellor in the office, and his work will be limited to administration of Veteran's Administration business. The last returning veterans will enter College with this fall's registration of '51, and with them the task of screening applicants will revert to the Committee on Admissions.
