Pitcher John Hansen and the Freshman baseball team suffered their first losses of the season yesterday on Soldiers Field after winning four and six times respectively. Coach Moe Berg's forces carried the Brown Yearlings 12 innings before succumbing, 5 to 3, with two costly triples, one in the two-run twelfth, contributing to the Bruin victory.
Meanwhile, the Jayvee nine journeyed away to gain their second win over Newton Junior College, this time by a 5 to 0 count. Two pitchers shared in the Junior Varsity's first shut out this spring and its second victory in six starts. Landon, Clay went five innings, allowing six scattered hits and striking out seven. Barry Turner finished up, striking out five and aiding his cause with a run batted in.
