Mock marathon entries and seductive models may have held the spotlights in Jubilee's ultra-extrovert publicity up to now, but a theatrical item in the weekend's activities will play a larger part in the future.
Led by Writer-director Robert Ashenhurst '50, a large group of Harvard and Radcliffe Freshmen have been rehearsing for a musical comedy to be presented at the Cabaret on Friday, May 9, in Memorial Hall. Featuring nine songs by Ashenhurst, the show is termed a "musical farce."
John J. Hughes '48, a member of the recent Hasty Pudding cast, four Glee Club members, and four 'Cliffedwollers form the core of the cast.' The play is described by author Ashenhurst as "a satire on college life, centering around the Jubilee and Harvard people."
Musical numbers for the show, which director Achenhurst asserts is "shaping up well," include "I Blame It on the Section Man," "If You're Clever. You'll Never Visit Boston," "By the Subway in the Square," and as a grand finale number, "Jubilee."
