With a contract from the Globe in his pocket, Robert L. Moore '49, of Winthrop House and Concord sets off for the United Kingdom this summer to write a series of articles on the topic of "An American Soldier Revisits England Three Years Later."
Moore, who was in various parts of the British Isles and Europe during the war, plans to go to all the places where he and other Americans were stationed, including stops in Northern Ireland and Scotland. At present he is trying to contact men who were in England to glean from them the names of places--or in special cases even people--that they would like to hear about. The Globe will run requests during June to try and get him such information, but he would like Harvard men to write him now.
May Include France
Leaving in the first part of July Moore will fly over the same route he travelled to Europe during the war. Although part of his time will be taken up visiting the American military cemeteries, he plans to use most of his six weeks in Europe at the former camp-sites and liberty towns of our army. If the Globe gets enough requests he may go to France.
Although only the Globe has signed up with Moore thus far, several other magazines and newspapers are considering joining in the idea which Moore first thought of in England three years ago.
