Drizzle Dampens Out Tennis Victory Hopes As Varsity Leads, 4-0

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

With the first win of the young season almost in the bag as a result of four straight-set singles victories, rains came to wash out the last half of the Varsity tennis team's match with Bowdoin on the Business School courts yesterday afternoon. Two remaining singles duels were halted with the score knotted at a set apiece, and none of the three doubles matches had yet begun when proceedings were halted.

Matches with Amherst for both Varsity and Freshman squads are next on the schedule, to be played this afternoon at 3 o'clock on the home grounds. Coach Barnaby's lineup will include: Singles; Backe, Tufts, Wightman, Pratt, Warren, and Coon or Schwartzman. Doubles; Tufts and Wightman, Backe and Pratt, Coon and Schwartzman or Warren.

The summary of yesterday's incomplete match: Backe (H) defeated Branche (B), 6-2, 6-1; Tufts (H) defeated Rosander (B) 6-2, 6-4; Wightman (H) defeated Lawry (B) 6-2, 6-3; Warren (H) defeated Curtis (B) 6-3, 6-0.
