Wellesley thespians will launch the first professional college theater group this July with the opening of a co-ed summer theater and school. Plans call for a regular stock season bolstered by a resident company of Equity actors.
Students will get a chance to act in at least one of the six proposed productions or receive instruction in directing from the summer theater head, Eldon Winkler, who will be taking time off from his chores as director of the Wellesley Barnswallows.
Edward C. Cole, of the Yale Drama School, will teach production and management to the enrolled collegian actors. Other instructors from the Yale school are expected to join the faculty.
