Finance Troubles Again Plague '49 Red Book Editors

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Financial troubles of a new kind have descended upon the '49 Red Book, but some solid support by Class members who have not yet subscribed will bring the book out of the red, business manager J. Rosson Overcash '49 announced last night.

"Only one fourth of the Class has signed up for the Red Book up to now," said Overcash, "and I think that's a pretty poor showing." The business staff is starting an intensive subscription drive early next week, contacting all the men of '49 who are on the "non-supporting" list.

Whatever the outcome of the campaign, the book will definitely appear some time near the end of the term. All the copy and cuts are at the printers, and editorial chairman James F. Ryan '49 is now going over the first of the returned proofs. "The exact publication date will depend upon the printer," Ryan stated last night.

Stalled until late February by a serious financial tangle which was finally cleared up by a Council investigating committee, the Red Book staff has been working steadily on the 136-page book since the green light was given.
