A new tradition in College dramatics resulted from the collaboration of the Hasty Pudding Club Theatricals and the Harvard Dramatic Club yesterday afternoon. Beginning with the forthcoming production of "Juno and the Paycock," HDC will present its performances on the clubhouse stage, marking the first time in Pudding history that the theater has been loaned to an outside organization.
The oldest dramatic group in the country, the Pudding is the only club in the University possessing its own stage.
"We are sincerely interested in furthering the progress of College theater," said W. Todd Parsons '48, president of the Hasty Pudding Club Theatricals, "and are more than pleased to offer our facilities to HDC." The agreement was hailed by the Dramatic Club, which has often been sorely handicapped by lack of adequate production space.
Allegretti Praises Move
HDC worked in close cooperation with the Pudding during its recent musical, "Speak for Yourself," which featured Dramatic Club president Theodore P. Allegretti '47 in the leading comedy role. Allegretti praised the Pudding's decision as providing a "terrific stimulus to dramatics at College, which have taken a new lease on life this year."
Francis W. Hatch '19, Graduate Pudding president, welcomed the HDC to the clubhouse with a wish for "the best of luck with 'Juno and the Paycock.'"
