U.N. Group Chairman To Back ITO Charter By Testimony Today

Stephen M. Scheme '50, chairman of the United Nations Council, will represent that group today before a State Department hearing which is taking testimony on the proposed International Trade Organization Charter.

Representing the only collegiate organization to testify before the committee, Schwebel will testify that his organization urges even greater power for the ITO than already is planned. The stated purpose of the proposed charter is to expand world trade by raising trade barriers and other distributes on international trade.

New England manufacturers are expected to attack the charter throughout the course of the three day hearings which started yesterday.
