Saul Mariaschin and George Hauptfuhrer won positions on the first and second Eastern Intercollegiate Basketball All-League quintain released yesterday.
Mariaschin, captain of this season's Varsity, who alternated between guard and forward, received 11 out of a possible 14 votes in landing a post at guard on the number one team. Hauptfuhrer, this year's center and leading Crimson scorer as well as next winter's captain, was high man among the second-string five with ten votes.
Walt Budke, pivot man of the champion Columbia Lions and holder of individual scoring honors, was the only unanimous selection in being named center of the first team. Rounding out this quintet with himself and Mariaschin are forwards Tony Lavelli of Yale and Chink Crossin of Penn, and Dartmouth's EdLeede at guard.
Lawry and Chollet Named
Princeton's captain elect George Lawry, and Cornell's Hillary Chollot were elected forwards on the second quintet, while to the guard posts were voted Columbia's diminutive set-shot artist Sherry Marshall, and Dartmouth captain Chip Coleman.
Seven other players received honorable mention, with points being awarded on the basis of two for a position on the first team and one for a second team nomination.
Leaders of the runners-up with two points apiece were Ed Peterson of Cornell and Al Vogel of the Columbia quintet.
