Lowell Five Captures Crown 40-32, Snaring Bunnies in League Playoff

"Yale, here we come," was the war cry of the Bellboy quintet yesterday afternoon as it climaxed a drive to House basketball supremacy with its ninth straight win, downing Leverett in the first-place playoff to take the title, 40 to 32.

Lowell sharpshooter Fred Donahoe hit early and often, and sparked an 11-point drive toward the end of the first half which left Leverett on the short end of a 22 to 12 count at intermission time. The Bunny attack was chilled by Lowell's tight zone defense, which forced Leverett to shoot from the outside and kept the scoring low.

Norm Cameron and Joe Hurley of Leverett found the range on set shots in the third quarter, and pulled the hard-fighting five to within six points of the leaders. But Lowell, with Mike Post and Donahoe controlling the backboards, broke away in the final period and coasted to the championship.

The quintet will journey to New Haven tomorrow to meet Pearson College, Yale intramural champions.
